Handmade with love

 Ruth Mott is an English glass artist who creates individual handmade pieces at her studio in Appleton, England.

The pieces are made from glass which Ruth scores and breaks to size by hand.
Designs are put together by Ruth in several sessions and eventually once ready, fired at 800C degrees in a special kiln to melt and fuse the glass.

The glass then has to be slowly cooled in timed segments  to avoid thermal shock shattering it. After around 12 hours the glass is cool enough to handle.

It is then shaped further and "fire polished" back in the kiln again, before being crafted individually into jewellery or homewares.
